Ferulic Acid is an antioxidant with the highest photoprotective capacity of skin cells. Ferulic Acid also acts as a cell membrane barrier, preventing the activity of free radicals and minimizing the effects of so-called “thymine dimers” that are carcinogenic agents resulting from skin exposure to solar radiation. Scientific studies have shown that topical application of ferulic acid inhibits the formation of erythema caused by exposure of the skin to UVB rays. Ferulic Acid acts as a photoprotector reducing the absorption of UVA and UVB rays.
